John Galliano Ready-To-Wear Fall 2009

John Galliano Ready-To-Wear Fall 2009

"It was theater, escapism—the creation of a parallel fantasy world upon which the concerns of "fashion" barely impinged."

My designs for my lady in waiting have been greatly inspired by this collection, the makeup was done by Pat McGrath and was supposed to be inspired by Russian brides and has a theme of purity however I do think that the hair and makeup for this looks Elizabethan. The models are shown walking down a tunnel like runway with snow falling down. The whole theme is magical.

The reason why I have referenced this to the Elizabethans is the pale skin, however I like how contemporary and shiny the skin is, the models skin is definitely not dewy it is sparkling, I think this to me looks like the Elizabethan adornments that they used to wear in their hair and how their gowns were always elaborately decorated, this follows through into the costume and the headpieces. The models cheeks are flushed with a reddy pink colour which to me looks like the Elizabethan trend of heavily rouged cheeks. I really want to reference this makeup and collection in my lady in waiting design as I like all of the metallic colours used, however for Elizabeth Brydges I would like it to be a lot darker.
