Corrective Eye & Lip Application

Corrective Eye & Lip Application

Today we learnt how to apply basic corrective eye makeup using two colours and also how to line and fill in the lips.

What I needed ;

  • Primer
  • Kryolan foundation palette
  • MAC cool neutrals palette
  • Mascara
  • Spatula
  • Brushes
  • Lip palette
  • Eyeshadow brushes
  • Lip brush
  • Foundation brush
To apply eye makeup you first need to assess the eye shape of your model, my model had even round eyes, so I looked at the chart above to apply the makeup. I started by applying prime and foundation to the lids to act as a base then set it liberally with powder, always apply your shadows from light to dark and apply in sections and work from one eye to the other to ensure that they are even. Ask your model if they are wearing contacts, you will need to be careful if they are because this can be damaging, apply a thick layer of loose powder under the eyes to catch any fallout. After applying the eye makeup blend any harsh lines with a q tip and loose powder. Apply mascara and lightly run some product through the brows to cover up any sparse areas.

These are images of my final eye look, I used two of the colours from the MAC cool neutrals palette however you cant see the lighter colour on the lid as well as I would have wanted to. Because my model has normal round eyes, there was not much corrective work that needed to be done, I simply just focused on running the product through the socket. I am happy with my finished look however I do not believe it is blended enough, as you can see from the first picture there is still some harsh lines, I found it really hard to blend out the shadow with loose powder as I am used to using fluffy blending brushes. The eyebrow could also be neater as I believe it is still sparse in some areas, but I have got all of the shadow in the right place.

For lips we simply used an angled and round brush to apply the product, for men use carmex because this will give the lips moisture without adding shine, start applying the lipstick from the edges and work towards the middle, and either set the lipstick with powder or get the model to blot with tissue.

I found the lip application quite easy, however when it comes to doing the lips again I would like to use a lip liner as this creates a sharper more precise line.

**HEALTH AND SAFETY**

  • Cover the clothes
  • Be careful of contact lenses
  • Use a light hand when working round the eyes.
